Expanding time and space
By a physical training based on partnering manipulations exercises, we will activate an awareness of the gaze, then move through filmmaking experiments to consider the camera and the surrounding environment as a true partner. This workshop is an opportunity to discover the methods of work of Fu Le and analyse some single-shot films he made, to approach screendance with a new paradigm and dive deeper into collective uncertainties where time and space are flexible.
Fu Le is a self-taught filmmaker and eclectic choreographer, director of the Tetrapode dance company in France. Graduated in sculpture at the Art Crafts National School in Paris, he then trained in physical theater in Buenos Aires and in contemporary dance in Lausanne. He then pursued his research in the Taiwan National University of the Arts, questioning social issues linked with urbanization.
Returning to France in 2017, he created the company Tetrapode and received the Beaumarchais-SACD prize for dance in 2018. He produced adisciplinary pieces (A Distant Land, Co-pulation, Styro’s Song) and a dozen dance films (Mass, The Last Children, Urban Genesis) screened internationally and awarded in more than 40 festivals. He then founded the Tetralab – International Screendance Laboratory in France. In 2022 he became associated artist at the Maison de la Danse – PEC of Istres City. He also collaborate with dance and circus company, such at Gratte-Ciel on the Olympic parade in Paris, 2024. His last work The Erased Effort is exhibited in 2024 at the Parcours de l’Art – Avignon and the Polaris Art Center – Istres.
Evolving on the edge between dance and video, Fu Le brings visual arts to the intimacy of bodily sensations, with a cinematographic approach based on the single-shot practice and the choreography of the camera itself. He is regularly invited worldwide as a member of the jury or to lead workshops in screendance festivals.
The Workshop is aimed at those interested in dancefilm making either from a practical or theoretical perspective.

The workshop will be held in English. Der Workshop findet in englischer Sprache statt.
